(Blog #12) - Planner and Bullet Journal

Today was one of those days where the mental clutter started to pile up, so I reached for my bullet journal and planner. I honestly don't know how I would function without them around the place. They change the entire way I think and process my world.

When everything is written down, my goals suddenly feel manageable, whether they are massive life pivots or smaller afternoon tasks. Lately, it is helping me sort through the physical clutter, too. I made a plan to organize my makeup and wardrobe. It is therapeutic to see a messy closet broken down into neat, achievable checkboxes.

There is a distinct comfort in knowing these thoughts are on the page. I used to spend so much energy just trying to remember to do things throughout the day, constantly terrified I would let a detail slip. Writing quick, messy lists in my agenda keeps my schedule on track. Sometimes, I will write lists for the next several days knowing that my errands have been planned. It helps me with being organized without overdoing it because some errands don’t have to be on the same day. I might make a list about daily routines, too. Then, when I need to breathe, I expand on those thoughts on my bullet journal.

Because of these pages, I actually get around to the little things, like finally ordering a specific coffee blend I wanted to try. It keeps my bigger aesthetic dreams alive, too, like slowly adding post-modern elements to the mid-century modern style already in my living room. I have to work at the design and organizing this helps me. Seeing it written down makes my vision feel real, one list at a time.
